Robert Robb, a serial entrepreneur and venture investor, is
president of Venture Development Associates, an independent,
venture facilitation and technology commercialization
enterprise. Mr. Robb has over 20 years experience in
creating, managing and nurturing early stage companies, primarily
in the life science, med-tech arena. He has funded, founded,
nurtured and/or managed 22 early stage enterprises and served as
CEO of 7 companies. Seven of the 22 companies he helped
launch have established a combined capitalization in excess of $700
million. He has coached numerous entrepreneurs and advised
many early stage companies and has raised more than $80 million for
start-up and emerging enterprises. Mr. Robb served for four
and a half years, from 1999 to December 2003, as President and CEO
of Quorex Pharmaceuticals, a San Diego-based, venture-backed,
pharmaceutical discovery company for which he raised $33
million. Mr. Robb's experience includes 6 years in venture
capital, as president of InMedica Development Corporation,
formerly, a public, med-tech, venture fund, and president of
Bioventures West, Inc., a seed stage, West Coast, biomedical
venture fund. Additionally, Mr. Robb served for 10 years as a
technology commercialization executive at Baylor College of
Medicine (BCM Technologies, Inc.) and the University of Michigan to
create and launch new ventures. While serving as Director of
the University of Michigan's Technology Management Office, he
established one of the leading technology transfer and new venture
development programs, nationally, among academic
institutions. The University of Michigan currently generates
over $11 million annually in equity and royalty revenue. Mr.
Robb received his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental
Biology and Master of Science degree in Parasitology/Microbiology
from the University of Utah.
