Felipe Mendoza joins GLP
Advisors from TAC Portfolio Advisors where he co-founded the
business and became a finalist for the Texas Emerging Technology
Fund asset monitoring mandate. He was recruited by the Sevin Rosen
partners to join the GLPA team when they were selected by the
Office of the Governor to monitor the Texas Emerging Technology
Fund.
Previously, Felipe was at
Dallas based Silver Creek Ventures, an early stage, information
technology, venture capital firm where he was the CFO and Associate
for 5 years. At Silver Creek Ventures, Felipe was responsible for
operations of the firm including accounting, valuations, budgeting,
cash planning/forecasting, capital calls/distributions, payroll,
interfacing with portfolio company CEOs/CFOs and Limited Partners.
Felipe also reviewed several hundred companies per year for
potential investment.
Prior to Silver Creek
Ventures, Felipe held management and engineering positions at Cisco
Systems, Monterey Networks (acquired by Cisco Systems),
Flextronics, Yotta Networks, Boehringer Mannheim (acquired by
Roche), Alcatel, and DSC Communications (acquired by Alcatel).
Felipe has been involved in the development of products ranging
from optical routers and networking equipment to diabetes monitors
and container tracking systems.
Felipe has a diverse
background having been involved in all facets of the early stage
capital experience - from employment at technology start-ups to a
venture capital fund. He has firsthand experience as an engineer in
helping to grow a successful venture backed startup, Monterey
Networks, from an early stage company until its acquisition by
Cisco Systems for $500 million in 1999.
Felipe received a MBA from
Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science in
Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University. He is a frequent
guest speaker at SMU and has been the industry mentor for the SMU
Business Plan Competition since 2008. He holds 5 patents with one
pending.
