Gary Cole

Vice President of Sales - Humana

Gary M. Cole is the Vice President of Sales with the Humana Inc. in DFW.  Mr. Cole has been with Humana for the past nine and one-half (9 ½) years and has served in various leadership capacities in support of the local market office.

Prior to joining Humana, Mr. Cole was the Market Executive for FHP of Illinois in Chicago, where he led the health plan for a period of 4 years prior to the sale of FHP to PacifiCare. 

In addition to extensive Health Plan experience, Mr. Cole successfully led two medical device companies as start up business ventures.  The first was Mitral Medical where he was responsible for the successful sales and distribution (domestic as well as international) of the company's Pericardial Tissue Heart Valve.   Later, he joined Symbion Inc. in Salt Lake City, where he established and maintained an IDE study in the US as well as the international distribution arm for the Jarvik7 Total Artificial Heart.

Mr. Cole has both a Bachelors Degree (from Owosso College - Owosso, Michigan) and a Masters Degree (from Asbury Theological Seminary - Wilmore, Kentucky).  He is interested in aviation (as an avocation) as he maintains a Multi-engine Commercial Instrument Certificate as well as Flight Instructor Certificates.   Mr. Cole has also served in a voluntary appointment as an Aviation Safety Counselor with the local Dallas Flight Standards District Office based at Love Field.

In addition, he participates on three non-profit community Boards.  The first is the Dallas Chapter of the American Red Cross where he also serves on the Executive Committee, additionally he serves as a member of the DFW Health Industry Council's Foundation.  His community activities include the Dallas Rotary, the Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce (newly appointed Board member) and the DFW Business Group on Health.
