Jack Hart, PhD

Assistant Chairman - Department of Biomedical Engineering at UT Austin

Jack D. Hart received his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 1971.  After graduation, he joined the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. where he served for 7 years.  While at the CIA, Jack was instrumental in the development and application of techniques used for the capabilities assessment of foreign weapon systems.  Jack returned to Austin, Texas in 1977 and spent the next 17 years at Radian Corporation in the Special Projects Department where he served as Department Head from 1986 to 1993.  The Special Projects Department supported the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defence in Great Britain.  Core technologies resident in Special Projects included signal physics, software development, hardware design and development, and technical training.

Jack joined the University of Texas Center for Space Research in 1993 where he served for the next 1½ years as the Research Manager.  In 1995, he joined Arrowsmith Technologies in Austin as a Program Director.  Arrowsmith Technologies served the telecommunications industry and the utilities industry with automated workforce management products.  Prior to joining the Department of Biomedical Engineering in early 2003, Jack spent the previous 5 years serving as a consultant to Radian Corporation in Austin.  As a consultant with Radian, Jack supported defense projects as well as projects in the home appliance industry and the semiconductor industry.

In his current position of Assistant Chairman, Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, Jack supports the Chairman in attaining the goals of the Department and also serves as the Department's Industry Liaison.
