Ken Merte

President and CEO - Coltrix Biomedical

Ken is the founder and president of Coltrix Biomedical, a Fort Worth area biomedical device company. The Coltrix mission is to improve surgical and wound healing outcomes with novel, collagen-based biomaterials and medical devices. Currently under development are products to address post-surgical adhesions, segmental bone loss, and for the treatment of battlefield wounds.

Ken is a seasoned business leader with 30-plus years of experience launching new medical products and businesses. His passion is to improve clinical outcomes through creative and innovative applications of technology. Prior to starting Coltrix, he served in senior technical and business leadership positions with 3M, Medtronic, Terumo Medical, and Arteriocyte. Product lines developed and launched under his leadership include those for orthopedics, endoscopy, cardiac surgery, blood management, neurosurgery, in-vitro diagnostics, cell separation, and cell therapy.

Ken received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and his M.S. degree in Engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
