Robert Giles, PhD

Executive Director - Global R&D Orchid Cellmark

Dr. Robert Giles is the Executive Director of Global Research and Development for Orchid Cellmark.  He received a BS in 1974 and an MS in Microbiology in 1976 from Mississippi State University.  He also received a Ph.D. in Immunology and Medical Microbiology from the University of Florida in 1982.  Dr. Giles was a post-doctoral fellow in the Microbiology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas from 1982-1985.  He was appointed as an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine, serving in that capacity from 1985-1987, at which time he joined GeneScreen as Scientific Director.  Orchid Cellmark acquired GeneScreen in December of 1999.  Dr. Giles lectures nationally on the use of DNA technology in the courtroom and has testified over 400 times as an expert in both criminal and civil cases.
