Vice President of Clinical Quality and Chief Medical Officer - Tenet Healthcare

Robert S. Hendler, M.D., serves as Vice President, Clinical Quality and Chief Medical Officer, Texas Region, for Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

As Vice President of Clinical Quality, Dr. Hendler serves as a corporate medical consultant to other Tenet departments, oversees medical review of the company's advertising initiatives, participates in new technology assessment, represents Tenet as a member of the Quality Committee of the Federation of American Hospitals, and is the medical chairman of the company's Bioterrorism Preparedness Task Force.  He actively participates on several committees dealing with regulatory compliance, claims, and patient safety.  Dr. Hendler reports to Jennifer Daley, M.D., Senior Vice President, Clinical Quality and Tenet's Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Hendler also serves as Chief Medical Officer for Tenet's Texas Region.  In that role, he is responsible for promoting high quality medical care through interactions with hospital medical staff, hospital administrative leadership, other regional leadership and hospital staff in support of clinical quality initiatives throughout the Texas region.  His primary focus is the company's Commitment to Quality initiative, a program designed to enhance patient outcomes and improve operational effectiveness at all Tenet hospitals.

Dr. Hendler is a board-certified gastroenterologist and joined Tenet in 1998.  Before that, he was in private practice since 1979.

Dr. Hendler earned his bachelor of science degree in biology from Boston College and his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston, Texas.  He completed his internship and residency at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, where he is an associate clinical professor of medicine.
