Ronald Schachar is the founder and Chief Executive Officer
of Velatec. Dr. Schachar is an internationally
recognized ophthalmologist, physicist, and inventor with a broad
array of accomplishments in both academia and the business world
including "Inventor of the Year" for the Dallas Fort Worth
area. He has been very active in the medical and academic
communities serving as editor and reviewer for multiple
professional journals and as Adjunct Professor of the Department of
Physics at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has
served in numerous leadership positions including president of the
Grayson County Medical Society, Keratorefractive Society, and
President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of Presby Corp. His
publications include, over 130 research articles and seven books,
and he has been issued over 60 patents. Dr. Schachar has
expertise in Lasers, optics, refractive surgery, image analysis,
finite element analysis, ophthalmic surgery, and corneal,
lenticular and retinal physiology. Dr. Schachar received a
B.S. in Physics from City University of New York in 1963, an M.D.
from Downstate Medical Center of the University of the State of New
York in 1967, and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in
1975.
