Susan Garstang, MD

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at UT Southwestern Medical
Dr. Susan Garstang is currently with the Department of
Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center where she serves as the residency
program director as well as the Medical Director of the Spinal Cord
Injury Clinic and Rehabilitation Services for Parkland Health and
Hospital Systems.
She is a specialist in spinal cord injury, and spasticity
related to neurological disorders, and has given many educational
presentations to allied health professionals and other physicians
pertaining to these areas. In addition, she teaches UT Southwestern
Resident Physicians and Medical Students, for which she has
received multiple teaching awards. She is on the Professional
Advisory Board (and is Medical Director) for Rehab Without Walls®,
and is on the Speaker's Bureau for Allergan.
Her current research interests include topics in
electrodiagnostics, the clinical management of spinal cord injury,
and graduate medical education research.
After graduating from Washington University School of Medicine
in St. Louis, Missouri, she completed her Physical Medicine &
Rehabilitation Residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston,
Texas. She then completed a Spinal Cord Injury Medicine
fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey/New Jersey Medical School.
