Frisco is once again expanding its profile in the world of video games with the announcement that it will host the inaugural Hearthstone Pro League gaming championship at the end of August. The Dallas suburb adds the professional gaming event to a list that includes a first-of-its kind video game development program, the relocation of popular game-maker Gearbox Software‘s headquarters from Plano, the establishment of the National Video Game Museum, and even a video game themed restaurant. The esports gaming league is being produced by PVP Live, an eSports startup and member of Frisco’s North Texas Enterprise Center (NTEC) business accelerator, in partnership with gaming giants Twitch and Blizzard Entertainment. Additionally, PRG is a studio and live show strategic partner. HPL is a premiere professional eSports league featuring Hearthstone, a digital strategy card game produced by Blizzard, who also make the wildly popular World of Warcraft. […]
